Friends are friends forever...

Why have I been neglecting my blog you ask? Let me list the reasons;

- Blogger and I are no longer friends as I spent entirely to much time attempting to post about St. Patrick’s day, and all that happened was a blog that looked like this:

(This page left blank intentionally)

-Then, after arm wresting the keyboard and then bitch slapping my monitor the blog looked like this:

I love stasdjhwoaiernsdvnw0q97ralsdfjsndv-0w34rasjdf]f\zflv/z,.sadf St.Patrick’s Day!

So I did have a great time with Meagan, Mara, and Meagan’s family, who hails from that blessed land. I felt almost Irish, it was so fun!! Lacey was missed! I do recall a drunken phone call in which I elaborated on how much she was missed for a little to long. I had the best time I have ever had on St. Patrick’s Day, with the exception that I also had the worst cold I have had in a long time too. I soldiered through it,and lasted until about 8pm, which isn’t to bad considering we started at 11am. Meagan’s family was quite entertaining, as well as being super nice and very welcoming. I’m sure that had nothing to do with the ten hundred pitchers of beer we all consumed. The lot of us managed to keep a good third of the bar sectioned off, so we had lots of room for drinking, dancing and singing drinking songs while dancing and drinking. Mara perfected the art of shaking her shamrocks, and we all attempted to follow her lead. We managed to find a fantastic Thai restaurant on Friday night, which caused us to eat entirely too much food. Mara’s Appletini tasted like cough syrup and dish soap though, which was a disappointment. We watched the movie “Saved” with Mandy Moore and that little kid all grown up now from the Home Alone movies whose name I am not going to attempt to spell… It reminded me to much of my Private Christian School Days, which are now behind me. Sigh. Thank goodness!! We crashed at Meagan’s sister Jessica’s house, MANY MANY THANKS are in order for her fabulous hospitality. She has the most adorable apartment, and she was sincerely kind to let us spend the weekend there. I didn’t get to spend much time with her, because she worked on Saturday and her night started about an hour before mine ended. But Meagan and Mara kept the party going until almost 1am, I think, and they got to spend a little more time with her. I missed out, but I’m sure that I will see her at Meagan’s graduation party if not sooner. Saturday morning we slept in a little and then partook of Meagan’s fantastic waffles! Yum! She almost poisoned me with some jam older then I am… but it was by accident and my waffle was saved at the last moment. We then decked ourselves out in all types of St. Patty’s Day Wear, included but not limited to, shamrock stickers, various necklaces, green shirts, boa’s, and pins. SHAMROCK POWERS UNITE was the evening’s motto. We did manage to get some great photos, which I hope will be appearing on the internet soon. : ) Once we got the bar, some fabulous hats appeared including a flashing crown that Meagan wore most of the night. Oh, and some really great tatoo’s that ended up on a poor cousin’s neck, and his friend’s shaved head. : ) The best part was watching him dance after Meagan used the excuse to pour half a glass of ice cold water down his shirt. We spent the afternoon at Murphy’s; a very Irish Pub, where many beers were consumed and much toasting took place. Meagan’s family is proud as punch that she is graduating Law School, and they should be. I could tell that she is definitely loved by them, they absolutely adore her. About fiveor six-ish, we slowly tricked out of the bar and head over the car. I was immensely entertained by the apparent inability of Meagan’s Dear Aunt Kathy to remember her left and right while giving us the directions to the Corned Beef and Cabbage that was waiting, but we did managed to make it there, and we spent the next hour or so eating and eating and eating…I then, sadly, admitted defeat against the battle with my cold and congestion. I was planning on maybe joining in later, but I feel asleep and stayed asleep until almost 10am the next day. We had a super yummy breakfast at Denny’s Sunday morning, and then dropped Mara off at the airport. The ride back from Seattle was nice, sunny and clear, and Meagan was kind and understanding that I didn’t have much to say due to my sickness.

I can’t believe that I didn’t post all of last week! Sheesh. I need to get with it. Seriously.
I have been super busy! Once every couple of months, I get ten hundred commitments in a row, and I find that my weekends are booked solid. This month is one of those months. I flew over to Seattle last weekend to see Rene`, who has known me since I was 14. She and I have been friends through thick and thin (mostly me getting thicker and her getting thinner), through hot pink scrunchies, boys that smile at us causing us to faint, and volleyball games that involve us watching a certain relative of mine play the entire net himself. We discovered that rock music didn’t really sent you straight to hell (at lease not immediately) and that if you take advantage of Red Robin’s bottomless Mountain Dew, you will giggle uncontrollably for at least the next four hours, causing you parents to ground you.
Anyway, we try to meet up as often as possible, since we have so much dirt on each other, it’s easy to blackmail her into letting me stay at her house. The reason for my visit was to attend a concert with her on Saturday night. We went to see Youth Group play at the Croc located in downtown Seattle. Rene and I have a slight addiction to the show OC, okay… slight is an understatement. Youth Group was one of the bands that made a guest appearance on the show.
When I flew in on Friday, she picked me up and we decided to go see a movie. Since she lives in the booming town of P.O., we knew that it was not possible to make it to her hood before the theater closes. So we went to the theater by the mall of my youth, Southcenter. We chose to see Zodiac, which while, interesting was what seemed like four hours long. Four hours of Jake is positive. But it is a really long time when you already sat all day at work, then in the airport and then on a plane.
So we managed to get home about 2am. We fell asleep immediately to be wakened at 7am by her neighbor industrially sawing and hammering away. Sigh...
We spent Saturday afternoon at Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma. I love the zoo. While part of me is saddened at the though of the little animals not able to enjoy freedom, the other half of me is thrilled at the chance to see them, get close, and learn more about them. We then met up with Sarah my sister, and Pat the bro-in-law for dinner. Sarah and the neicphew are doing well. You can definitely tell that things are moving along quite nicely, she is definitely showing and looks a lot less green and more “rosy prego” color instead.
Rene and I then headed downtown to the concert… doors opened at nine and the concert started at ten. Here is the sad part of my trip. We were so tired from no sleep the night before and walking the zoo, factoring in that we are no longer 18 instead we are pushing mid to late twenties, we didn’t even make it until midnight. We left early and headed home. Sigh… old age is not what it’s cracked up to be!
We attempted to sleep in the next day since the rain damped the neighbor’s spirits and caused a slight delay in their construction. Then we paid a visit to a P.O. tradition, known as The Family Pancake House. The first time I visited P.O., after a crazy night at the hottest and only bar in town, the End Zone, we ate some really good breakfast at the FPH. From that time on, we attempt to continue the tradition of partaking in the FPH’s culinary delights each time I come to visit.
We then proceeded to see my good friend Rach the Invisible Pirate, her husband/partner in crime and her offspring Simba. It was good to reminisce about the old times, and laugh about how things have changed… and how some people have not changed at all.
All in all it was a good weekend, even though I am still so tired! I need to get rested up for this weekend, the St. Patty's Day Extravaganza!!! Hooray!!!

I was innocently watching tv last night, and all the of the sudden the most terrifying commercial I have ever seen came on. It was horrifying. The images were so startling; they have been burned into my brain. It’s only fair that you should picture them as well, so that we can all be permanently scarred together.

The commercial opens with a shot of an old abandoned theater. The background voice (low and semi creepy) begins:

There is a legend that this theater was once owned by a women ventriloquist.

The camera spans the theater and then the shot shows the attic where all the puppets are sitting in a pile, dusty and neglected. Two people are on the stage and they talk about how they are going to restore the theater and sell it. One nervously mentions the “legend” the other inquires what it is…

(Narration begins again): The legend says that her puppets came to life and killed her so that they could live in the theater alone.

The camera slowly closes in on the puppets in the attic and their eye’s pop open. Evil grins spread across their faces.

The next shot is of a lady entering her bedroom. The camera moves to the bed, where something is under her sheets. She pulls back the covers and…. It’s an Evil!! Demon!! Puppet!!! There to kill her!!!

I then begin to scream with fear and run from the living room to my bedroom to hide. But there might be evil demon puppets in my bed! AHH!! No place is safe!! The roomy continues to sit on the couch and laugh at me.

Few things scare me as much as Evil Demon Puppets. Evil Demon Children scare me. Oh, and midgets. But they are kinda like children. But not, but the same size. Oh, and Evil Demon Clowns are also very scary. I am no longer allowed to watch tv. At least until this movie is no longer playing. Thank goodness for On Demand.
