So... I have been keeping myself busy volunteering as a nanny for a missionary couple from my parent's church. They are in Port Townsend taking some classes at a Bible Camp so they can become certified to teach ESL. I spend most of my days with Elizabeth who is three, almost four. She is adorable, and quite the entertainer. She is also pretty opinionated about everything and her favorite question is... you guessed it, "why?" They also have Annabella who is 4 and a half months, but she is in class with her mom most of the time.
Today, when I asked Elizabeth when her bedtime is, she very seriously told me that it was 37. I just love kids! They are so cute!! She also told me that she need to go to the bathroom and go number one, two, five and nine. Wow.
I'm staying at the Bible Camp while I'm here (they have so graciously let me have my own cabin with it's own bathroom! Nicer then a couple of hotels I've stayed in!!) and I get to join in on the group meals with everyone else too. I will be here until Saturday at the latest. Just so you know, the internet is pretty unreliable (I'm currently stealing it from some unsuspecting neighbor... is that bad when you are at Bible Camp?) and I am usually with the kids until after 11pm... and breakfast is served at 8am. : )

I have been treating my unemployment as a chance to take a little bit of time off. I spent the last week with my family in Colville, and it was so great. Just to really spend time with them without having to rush over and rush back. Oh, funny thing happened when I was there. My dad asked me to run with him to pick up my mom's car from the tire place (he had the stud tire taken off). So as we pull into the parking lot, my dad says, "oh good, it's done, it's sitting right there by that truck." So I follow him in and get the key. I hit the unlock button on the keys, the car beeps and I hop in. So I am sitting there, and the key isn't turning. Strange, I think. So then I look at the key, and it's definately a copy... and I think maybe it's a new enough car that it needs a special type of key, like with a microship or something. So I get out of the car and head back to where my dad is parked. I tell him that the key isn't working. Hmm, he says, it has worked before. So he gets in and he trys the key too. It still doesn't work. All the sudden he looks around. And then he gets out of the car, turns to me and says in a hurried whisper, "Get your stuff! This isn't the right car! Get your stuff! Quickly!! Hurry! Get your stuff!!"
Oops. Guess I don't drive my mom's car to often, huh?

Oh... Big news. So today I lost my job. I know, pretty shocking. Not expected for sure. Sigh.
Soo... Now I don't have a job. As in, "Sorry, but go ahead and clean out your desk right now." Not finish the week out, or your last day is next week. Hmm. Things have been really slow out in the field, and we have laid alot of people off. But I have been with this company for almost five years. That seems like a while to me, ya? Sheesh. So, I am officially on Standby Layoff status. Sigh.
What is there to say about it? Welcome to a clean slate? I guess so. I intend to spend the weekend ramping up my resume, since I haven't needed it for a while, and gathering my wits. Then it's off to the job market. Wow. I'm kinda rusty, so it's not going to be an smooth ride at first. But, after a good night's sleep (if that is possible?) things will get a bit brighter.
I guess I'm just so surprised. I loved my job and I though that I was good at it. That I was asset to the company, a team player. I felt that what I did made a difference. I really, really loved it. And now... Let's just say the plan has been changed for me. And I don't really know why yet.
