Happy Birthday to me!

To quote Mara, Happy Birthday to me! Today was the big day. Turned 25 again. :) I've been 25 for a couple of years now, and it seems to be sticking okay with me! I had a pretty good day... I was a bit late for class, but that worked out to my advantage. I walked in and one of the girls in my lab class (she is so sweet! We have definitely become friends!) had brought me a little cup cake with a candle and the whole class sang Happy Birthday to me. It was a huge surprise, and I was so shocked! Then, after class, I ran some errands and what not. My cousin Steve and his wife Gena were so sweet and took me out to dinner. We went and had some spectacular sushi and then we had Coldstone Creamery for dessert. It was good to see them, I always enjoy hanging out with them. Soo... another year goes by and I am not even close to where I thought that I would be, but I know that I'm definitely not any worse off from where I used to be!
My family is meeting up this weekend for a little camping time at the Sun Lakes area, Blue Lake to be exact. It should be fun. My Sis and Bro-in-law were supposed to come with Baby K, but I don't know if they are going to make it. Bro-in-law got a job offer, and they are thinking about moving back to the best side of the state, here! But they would be in Polsbo... anyone know where that is? About an hour and a half away from me, on the peninsula, north of Port Orchard. But it would be nice to have them a little bit closer. Then I might get more chances to babysit Baby K! That would be so fun! Anyways... I'm off to bed, lots to do tomorrow. :)

Hooray for the Bride, Tabitha!

The Wedding Pics!

Mara and I are waiting for the big moment...
Lacey and I are still waiting...
OMG! It's totally a MySpace pic!
Ahhh! Look! Lacey is wearing a dress!
Meeting up with old friends! Hooray for Sandra!

Ya for Weddings!

Lacey and I carpooled over to Spokane this weekend for Dave and Tabitha's wedding. It was really great! It's so nice to make the drive with some company, instead of just me, Howard and the radio. The boy's (Howard and Hampton) slept most of the way there and all of the way back. The wedding was beautiful! Dave and Tabitha are so cute, and I'm so happy for them! Best wishes!!
It was good to see my friends in Spokane again, and to spend some time with them. Mara flew up too, so she DD us at the wedding (thank you!!) and then Meagan (and Troy!) was in town too, but she was busy so we met up for breakfast on Sunday morning. I do have some pictures which I intend to try and post as soon as I get home tonight. I'm on a break between classes, Monday and Wednesday are my long days...
The weekend was fun and relaxing. I had a blast! Lacey and I also ran into our friend Sandra there, I was surprised to see her! I didn't put it together that she and Dave work together, so she might be there. She is so funny!! We did end up cutting the rug a bit out on the dance floor. Mara pulled out the sprinkler, just for old times sake. After the wedding a few of us hung out for a bit, and that was fun!
I swung by my house on Saturday to pay the neighbor boy that is mowing the lawn for me. He is so funny. I've been gone a year and he has grown so much! I was pretty shocked two weekends ago when I talked with him, he has seriously grown like two feet and his voice has changed already. Sheesh. Plus I noticed that when I talked to him he was definitely distracted by my tank top. Boys are funny. He was just a runny nose kid when I first moved in. Now I kinda think that he is giving me a deal on the lawn mowing price due to my low cut tank top. Yes.... that is worth it for me!! (Please note, we had been laying out tanning, I don't normally flash the neighbor kids. Just so you know.)
The new potential homeowners requested a home inspection, and I don't think that the outlook is good. My realtor didn't email me much, she said that she was still waiting for the list from the inspector, but she did hear that it involved a carbon monoxide leak in the furnace. Ouch. That spells money. Darn it. I was hoping to negotiate my way out of having to fix anything in order to sell it, but now... I guess we will see what the final verdict is. At this point I'm not making enough money from selling the house to really afford to replace the furnace. Plus, all the ducting is pretty old and you know how contractor's don't like to deal with old stuff and then adding new stuff. They like to replace everything. Darn it. I will keep you posted. Sheesh.

The Conclusion, just an FYI

Parker Sentenced in Robbery Case
This document was published online on Thursday, June 05, 2008 By Sven Berg/Staff writer

The Jerome man who twice robbed Zions Bank in Burley last fall was sentenced Wednesday to a prison term of 15 to 30 years. Cassia County 5th District Judge Michael Crabtree sentenced Steven Parker, 33, to several prison terms for crimes relating to the 2007 robberies, but ordered the sentences to be served at the same time. In addition to prison time, Parker is responsible for paying more than $23,000 in restitution to Zions Bank, as well as $4,000 in fines. Cassia County Deputy Prosecutor Blaine Cannon said Zions Bank can request garnishment of any money Parker makes at a prison job, but he was not optimistic about the quick recovery of the full $23,000 owed the bank. “Realistically, I wouldn’t expect that you’ll see much,” Cannon said. Parker was on probation for robbing the Burley Zions Bank on Aug. 21, 2001 when he robbed it again on Sept. 12, 2007, making off with more than $17,000. He got away cleanly that time, but just a month later, he robbed the bank a third time. As he drove away from the bank in a stolen pickup, several members of the public, having heard reports of the robbery on police scanners, reported his location and direction of travel. Cassia County Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Nebeker and other officers followed Parker across fields, highways and dirt roads on a chase that ended when Parker drove into a flooded canal west of Murtaugh. Addressing Nebeker on Wednesday, a tearful Parker pleaded forgiveness, calling his actions “inexcusable.”“Sir, I recognize you,” Parker said. “I’m sorry I put your life in danger. I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart and I ask you to forgive me.” Parker also apologized to several Zions Bank employees in attendance at the hearing, as well as to the state of Idaho. Bank employees declined to comment following the hearing. Crabtree said he believed Parker’s apologies were sincere, but the facts of the case warranted a severe sentencing. “What’s it going to take to restore you to balance with society?” he said. Cannon said he was satisfied Parker had received a fair sentence. Parker’s attorney, Tim Schneider, said his client had hoped to receive fewer determinate years on his sentence. “He feels he has something to contribute to society,” he said.

Summer Confessions

Seen an ex?
Yes. In Spokane at a Home Depot. Jerk-butt. I don't miss him at all. Plus he looked terrible! Gray hair and awful shoes. He was a much better dresser when he was with me. Mostly because I picked out his clothes for him.

Told someone you loved them?
Yes, I just told Carrot James the cat that I love her.

Cried?
Yes

Been to the beach?
Like the real official beach? Not yet this summer. I was at the Tacoma Waterfront the other day. But I was just walking along the sidewalk.

Stayed up all night?
Nope, I'm one week away from turning retirement age. I can't be up past 9pm. It's past my bedtime right now!

Went shopping?
It's the addiction that I had to break... no JOB means no shopping. But I did manage to budget in some HOT-T shoes for the wedding this weekend. I love Ross! $15.99!!

Been out of state?
Yep! I love Cali and visits to Mara's house!

Went swimming?
Nope. I shower every day though, just in case you were wondering.

Been asked out?
How about... NO. Thanks for reminding me!

Asked someone out?
Yep. Remember July 18th, the holiday? You can guess how it went then.

Gotten in a car with a stranger?
Nope. I choose life, so I drive myself thank you.

Lost someone close?
No, thank goodness!!

Slept in someone else's bed?
Yep! Mara's spare bedroom! With Frauline and Annie! They are such good snugglers. Just watch out for your shoes.

Had someone sleep in your bed?
Yes. I share my bed every night with Carrot James. And she is not a cuddler. She is a bed-hog.

Been to a club?
Yes... I was talked into a trip to Cowgirl's Inc and the Tiki Club a couple of weekends ago....

Been in trouble with the cops?
Defiantly got pulled over on the way to school the other day for speeding. My good looks and charm got me a warning instead of a ticket. That and the fact I was only going 7 over the speed limit. Really?

Regretted something?
Yep... but I have faith that it will work out anyway.

Lied?
To the cop. I told him that I thought the speed limit was 40. I knew that it wasn't, but I didn't know what it was exactly and I knew that I had been going just a smidge over 40. I was praying that it wasn't 30 because then I knew I was in for a ticket.

Been camping?
In my house in Spokane. Anytime you have to sleep on the floor with a sleeping bag should count as camping. If not, then next weekend is the Yearly Family Camping trip. So I will have by then.

Stayed at a hotel?
Yep. :)

Flirted with someone?
Of course! That is what it is all about!

Skinny dipped?
No one needs to be subject to the blinding whiteness that is my legs. No one.

Gone to a concert?
No, I tried to go to a Lifehouse concert earlier this year. It didn't work out. Sad! But I had more fun hanging with Rene then we would have at the concert anyways.

Almost died?
Hmm... Not that I can think of. But the summer is definitely not over yet!

Met a celebrity?
No. But I am stalking, I mean looking out for Zack Braff. Just in case he is in the area. He is my friend on Myspace. So I'm sure he would want to hang out if we happened to run into each other.

Your Life:
Do you think your last ex deserves to die?
No, I don't have any right to decide who lives or dies. Good think to..... or there might be some random lighting bolts striking people right now. Just Kidding!!

Have you kissed someone in the past week?
Nope

Have you ever broken someones heart?
Yep. I am assuming I did, since he told everyone in the entire town that I did. I don't really know how I could of since we only dated for two weeks. I don't think you can know someone well enough after two weeks to break their heart. But I guess it's possible.

Who do you tell the most to?
Rene. I call my mom almost every day, but you can't tell your mom everything, you know!!

Has anyone ever told you they want to spend the rest of their life with you?
Yes. But P.S. they totally lied. You can tell that it didn't work out. But four years later, I'm not bitter. Anymore. Probably. Mostly. Jerk-butt.

What do you carry with you at all times?
My phone is always in my pocket. Unless I don't have a pocket. Then it's in my purse.

Will your next kiss be a mistake?
Ohh... I don't really have it planned out at this point, so who knows?? :)

Do you know anyone with cancer?
Yes

What did your last text say?
No, not yet... Is it supposed to be here?

Who was the last person you talked to in person?
My room mate Hillary

Who was the last missed call on your cell phone?
My Aunt Mary

Do you think you can last in a relationship for more than three months?
Yes. If he is who I am supposed to be with, not just a distraction.

Have you lost friends in the past 3 years?
Yes, just lost touch with them. Not any close friends, more like acquaintances.

Do you care if people hate you for no reason?
If I know that they do, then I would want to try and change their mind.

Have you ever changed clothes in a vehicle?
Yes. It's a bit awkward.

Do you drink Tea?
Yes, but I end up drinking coffee more, because I love it!!

Do you talk about your feelings or hide them?
It depends on how close I am with the person I am talking to. Usually I talk about them.

Things about the opposite sex you notice first?
Ring Check!! Just kidding. Um... I don't know. If they have some outstanding feature, like fantastic eyes or strange hair maybe.

Is your room clean?
I try to keep it pretty clean. Since I keep my door open for my animals. I think that it's pretty clean. It's not spottless though.

Has anyone got on your nerves lately?
Yes. Today actually. Oh, everyday that I have school. Sigh. Three more weeks!!

Do you bite your fingernails?
No. If I could reach my toe nails I might bite them. Eww... just kidding.

Do you watch a lot of TV?
Sometimes. I have my days that I can't seem to get motivated and I just get sucked in by the What Not to Wear and Top Chef and Project Runway marathons.

Are you tan?
Not really. Only my arms and my face have a bit of color.

Do you have unlimited texting?
Yes! I couldn't afford my phone otherwise!

Where is your sister right now?
Believe it or not, she is totally in Pulsbo because my Bro In Law has a job interview tomorrow. And they are going to be here for the whole weekend... and I will be in Spokane. Ironic!

Do you want someone back in your life?
Technically they aren't "gone" just not as actively participating as I wish they were

Do you still talk to the person you fell hardest/fastest for?
Yes, and I still get those stupid, stupid butterflies. Darn it. I hate that.

Last night, did you go to sleep smiling?
I don't know. It was dark and I was asleep

Did you have a good day yesterday?
Yes, I did! I survived my Bio Exam and I had lunch with my friend (and cuz) Gena.

Who is your last text from?
Hailey. She said that she heard Gonzo's has a Wii now!!

welcm 2 the gr8t wrld of skool

I'm actually doing well in my Biology class. I know. I am shocked! I can't believe it. I managed to swing a 72.5 on the first exam, and yet I have a 3.5 grade average so far. Sheesh! What an amazing thing!! Today's exam was a bit of a killer though, I was happily selecting answers on the multiple choice questions when the first short answer question knocked me off my chair. Whoo... I actually studied for this test! I repeat myself, I studied for this test! So I was a wee bit disappointed when I couldn't remember three chemicals used in the dark photosynthesis process and the steps they take to complete it. Maybe I can't remember it because I'm not a stinking plant. So really, what do I need to know about photosynthesis? Hmm?? As it applies to me... nope wait, it doesn't Darn it.
In other news we started our Pea Lab experiments. At first when the Prof started talking about them, I freaked out in my head. Pee? That is stinking gross! I am not doing anything with anything that has to do with pee!!! But then it hit me... PEA lab, not PEE lab. Sheesh. That was a close call. It would have been very unsanitary if it was a pee lab. Anyway. We are planting PEAS in pots and then spraying them with acid to see what happens. Poor little peas, they have no idea what is going on and we are just messing with them for the heck of it. I noticed today that our groups peas are in a strange formation. We planted ten in each pot and three of them in each pot are growing. On the left side of the pots. I think there maybe a Pea Thief in our midst. There are two other groups that have ten hundred pea plants in their pots... and the rest of us have a few. Based on the formation... I could see how someone who's peas were growing decided to liberate some of our plants and then borrow them for the experiment. Two groups with ten hundred plants? Coincidence? I think not!
Oh... my English class is going well. But I kinda think that you should be able to read in order to get into the class. Read and write. Basic requirements for English 131. There is one chick, that I swear to you, she is really still posting things that are the equivalent to text messaging. Here is an example:

in this story i noticed the authr is gr8t at leadng u on to the point of wondrning what is goin on i didnt think it was ok & m not really sure bout it

I mean. REALLY??? REALLY??? What is so wrong with BASIC punctuation and perhaps an occasional capitalization when you start a new sentence? REALLY??? The Prof continues to remind her that she is required to use proper grammar when typing and it will be a deduction on her total grade if she doesn't meet the requirements. Sigh. What has this world come to? I can see spelling errors. I'm not any good at the spelling thing, but I know how to use spell check. It's the button with the check mark and the "abc" above it. Maybe I should send her a little message reminder about it. Na... it's to fun to watch. I wonder if my Prof is pulling his hair out about it yet.
No other news on the travel side of life yet. I'm still in the process of finding out about my options and narrowing them down.
Oh, Howard totally has a girlfriend! I know ! So cute! I should try to snap a little picture of her on my phone soon... She is the cutest little poodle something mix and she lives next door. Her name is Luda. She loves Howard so much!! She runs over and they wag their tails and sniff each other's faces. Then she tries to lick his little nose, but he is shy and doesn't let her. Then she will get him to chase her all around the yard and then they lay down and snuggle. So cute! Howard is defiantly going to miss her when we move.
Also, here is the link to my little house. Who knows how long the pictures will be up, since I already had three offers come in and I think that I am going to accept the third one. But check it out! We did a ton of work on it, painting and cleaning... I'm pretty proud of how cute it looks minus the dead front lawn!!

  • Becky's House

  • You know, I don't know if that link is going to work... if you can't get it too, just click on my realtor's web site and then on the right side you can click on active MLS listings and put in MLS number 28024778. It should show up then. I am not cool enough to know how to add a link to my blog and then name it something else... someone should let me know how to be that awesome... I just kinda tried by copying the same format they use on the blog template to add my links on the right side... Click on it and see what happens! Please note, I am not responsible if your computer dies, explodes, or randomly sends out ten hundred emails to strangers asking them for their phone numbers. Just so you know.

Update! Neither links work. And I suck at this whole attaching websites thing. Sorry guys! You can find it by searching by the price, just put in $97,000 as your min and max and it will pull it up. : )

    Saturday, July 19, 2008

Yesterday, July18th, is now an official holiday! Yes... it's now the Day of Rejecting Becky. Wow. I got hit twice yesterday, and it was hard to swallow. But, I feel much better now because it's a yearly holiday. So it can't happen again for another WHOLE ENTIRE year, right? Sigh.
So, here is the news, I did not get accepted into the school I applied for. Sad! They emailed me to tell me that they felt that I should go to a DTS, but they did not feel that I was a good fit for their base. They recommended that I look into two other bases, one in England by London, and one in Scotland. At first I was pretty upset about it. I mean, I was so sure that it was what I was supposed to do. Why would this happen? Sigh. So I am looking into other places, I emailed the one in England, and I also found one in Williamsburg, VA, that looked interesting. So, that was rejection number one.
Then, rejection number two is lame so I'm not going to talk about it. Ha!
What else is new... I am looking for a job intensely now. I applied at a local Starbucks... I would love that job so much. I am really hoping for a call back. I have a friend that is a shift manager there, and she put in a good word for me. I was kinda half expecting a phone call yesterday to go with the rejection theme, but no dice.
In other news, I totally went and saw the new Batman movie, Dark Knight. It was really good. I'm not recommending it, because I never recommend movies unless I'm super close to the person and know that they won't resent me for forgetting that one naked part that so opportunely flashed on the screen while their Grandma was making them a peanut butter sandwich causing her to freak out and assume that they are watching you-know-what instead of a movie. That has never happened before, honest. That I know of. But it has occurred to me before. So I don't recommend movies. I was worried that it was going to freak me out, since the Joker is supposed to be extremely creepy. While he is quite the creep-fest and very eerie, I was not scared beyond reason and was able to sleep last night. I think it really just made me sad, since Heath is no longer among us... more introspective about life and how short it is for some people. And really, what is the point of life? Are we here just to do and see what we can in the short time we have? Is there more to it then that? I believe so, but out of respect for those that don't want to read mushy personal belief posts, I will just say that I do believe that there is so much more to life then the accumulation of things or experiences.

    Tuesday, July 15, 2008

Ugh.... the house in Spokane is finally ready to sell. After two weekends of fixing it up, it looks so cute! So cute that I wish I could just pick it up and move it over here to the "right" side of the state. Sigh. I could not have gotten it ready with out the help of my parents and my foster sister, Alicia. I don't think that I have blogged about her yet, have I? About six months ago (I know... I should blog more often!!) my parents got a frantic call from their pastor asking them to watch her for a weekend. Some things had come into light that were going to put her and her six brothers and sisters into the CPS system if they didn't find a place for them to stay right away. My parents knew her well, specifically my mom who had been teaching Alicia's Sunday school class for the last couple of years, and were happy to help. Things have progressed and now they are officially foster parents for her! I love having her around. She is 13, and so sweet. Unlike me at the age of thirteen, she is helpful and a hard worker. She has such a great sense of humor and she is very, very creative! I told her the other day that she was putting Sarah (my younger sis) and I to shame! She always keeps her room clean, does her chores... she is making me look bad, for sure. :) We both laughed about it. She has, seriously, the prettiest hair too. It's that fantastic deep auburn with a natural curl to it... I'm so jealous! Poor girl had no idea how to take care of it either. She had been brushing it out in to a poof ball with out any product in it at all. We spent some time in WalMart and picked out some hair products to encourage the curl, and she was shocked at how curly it really is!
Anyway... so the house should be on the market here soon. I signed the papers with my realtor, and gave her the keys. A part of me is sad to see it go, but the majority of me knows that it is the right financial decision for me. I bought it at a time in my life when I was under the impression that I was "settling down". I was DEFINITELY settling, but in the wrong ways. Now that the "settler" and I are not involved, I really don't mind parting with it. A chapter in my life is closing with it, and I'm okay with that. It does bring back happy memories of girls nights though! :) I will post some pictures when I get them from my realtor!
Besides that things are going well, school is plodding along. No word yet from YWAM as to if I've been accepted yet. I finally emailed them, since its been three weeks since they got the last portion of my references. We will see what they say! I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything!
